The opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists in our Asset Integrity department within the Metals division for a Reliability Engineer located in Fort Saskatchewan, AB. The purpose of this position is to support the development and execution of the asset integrity strategy by applying reliability tools and technologies to address reliability, availability, and maintainability challenges, thereby enabling the Fort Site to achieve its asset management objectives.

In this role, you will be accountable for:

Contributing to the development and implementation of the Asset Integrity business plan, including engineering, regulatory compliance (e.g., ABSA, EQMP, Gas Code), and infrastructure asset management in alignment with Fort Site Asset Management objectives.
Developing annual budget estimates and long-range financial plans to support Asset Integrity initiatives within the overall Asset Management strategy.
Implementing reliability engineering practices, Process Safety Management (PSM), and regulatory programs to ensure compliance with current standards and licensing requirements.
Recommending improvements to the Asset Integrity program aligned with global standards such as ISO 5500x and ISO 14224 to drive continuous improvement.
Aligning Asset Integrity processes with other functional areas including Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, Capital Projects, SCM, and Finance to ensure consistency and minimize process conflicts.
Building and maintaining effective cross-functional relationships to support collaboration and integration of Asset Integrity efforts across the organization.
Utilizing best practices, technical innovation, and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance asset performance, reduce costs, and support safe, reliable operations.
Providing technical support for improvement initiatives, equipment failure investigations, and root cause analysis while managing multiple priorities and identifying opportunities for risk and cost reduction.

Skills and attributes for success:* Professional engineering designation (P.Eng.) and certifications in Reliability or Asset Management such as MMP, CAMP, CAMA, or CMRP.

Experience implementing and sustaining asset management and reliability engineering programs, including business plans and frameworks.
Background in operating facilities or related production and maintenance environments.
Strong knowledge of Maintenance, Engineering, Reliability, PSM, MOC, and Project Management, along with proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems.
Proven ability to develop and execute business plans, design policies and procedures, and apply Operational Excellence and Lean principles.
Excellent communication, presentation, and change management skills, with the ability to influence across all organizational levels and work effectively in multicultural environments.
