Reliability Engineer

About This Job


Essential Functions

Data collection, analysis and reporting utilizing the following technologies: Vibration, Infrared thermography, Tribology, Ultrasonics, Dye Penetration Testing, Motion Amplification
Utilization of the current software to load, dump, and analyze vibration route data, as well as build and update the associated databases (AP sets, alarm sets, etc.).
Develop reports and give presentations utilizing various software programs.
Daily planning, including but not limited to the Maintenance Standard Tasks (MSTs) and work orders utilizing the current Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS). SAP is the current CMMS used at Asarco Ray.
Communicate effectively to provide, receive, and implement constructive feedback to support the mentoring program. Communication will be with managers, peers, contractors, directors, and other personnel.
Review, investigate, and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned Reliability Engineering projects.
Participate with Operations and Maintenance departments and other Engineering staff in problem solving efforts to improve safety, equipment reliability, and protection of the environment.
Ensure appropriate documentation for assigned projects is prepared and review documentation for accuracy.
Develop and implement Reliability Reporting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Participating and/or conduct root cause analysis sessions upon equipment failure.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and engineering drawings & schematics.
Ability to understand and interpret nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) along with abstract and concrete variables.
Provide technical support for Operations and Maintenance as needed.

Requirements

Understanding of the operation of mining equipment (crushers, mills, pumps, flotation, filters, haul trucks, shovels, drills).
Knowledge of probability and statistical analysis.
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in English.
Ability to read plant, electrical, and equipment drawings.
Ability to write routine reports and maintenance records.
Must have good computer skills with MS Windows, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of SAP, Power BI, and/or Machinery Health Manager a plus.


Education and Experience

Minimum Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
Minimum Experience Required:
2 years performing reliability centered maintenance duties (vibration data collection and analysis, etc.), or,
4 years within one of the following fields: reliability, engineering, maintenance, planning, or project management.
Minimum of 1-year hands‑on experience using vibration data collection equipment and performing vibration data analysis.
Effective written, verbal, and communication skills to satisfy training, safety, and electronic message transmission policies of the company.


Criteria/Conditions

Work is performed in a mine or processing plant which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles, and large mobile equipment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, walk over rough terrain, work in dusty/wet/cold/hot environments, talk, hear, and see.
Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
Occasionally it may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to fifty (50) pounds during the workday.
Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.


Environmental, Health & Safety

If selected, Asarco provides MSHA New Miner Training and Environmental Awareness Training (40 hours).
