Power Ray LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Pre-Construction Manager to lead and coordinate all pre-construction activities for utility-scale solar projects. Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Development
•Lead pre-construction efforts from concept through final budget handoff to operations.
•Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including ownership, the Director of Estimation & Acquisition, Business Development, Project Managers, and design professionals throughout all stages of project planning.
•Prepare conceptual and detailed cost estimates based on project stage and client data.
•Perform constructability reviews and site evaluations to identify risks and efficiencies.
•Prepare overall contract exhibits and final budget packages for client approval.
Bid Management and Subcontractor Coordination
•Develop comprehensive bid packages, trade-specific clarifications, and instructions using Procore or equivalent software.
•Review, level, and validate subcontractor bids and proposed schedules.
•Engage in subcontractor outreach and relationship development to strengthen partnerships.
•Evaluate, negotiate, and participate in awarding construction contracts.
Budgeting, Scheduling, and Documentation
•Create and manage detailed budgets aligned with design progress and client goals.
•Coordinate with internal teams and clients to adjust budgets based on scope or value engineering needs.
•Create initial working schedules to support project planning and resource allocation.
•Monitor the progress and quality of all pre-construction activities, ensuring milestones are met.
•Oversee preparation of key documents including construction plans, specifications, and exhibits.
Leadership, Process Development, and Innovation
•Help build and scale the pre-construction department to support future growth.
•Identify opportunities and implement best practices to elevate operational performance.
•Contribute to continuous improvement through creative and technical innovation that keeps Power Ray on the cutting edge of the industry.
•Provide training and mentorship to pre-construction staff as needed.
•Represent Power Ray at industry functions and support business development initiatives.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
•Minimum 4+ years of experience in construction; 2+ years in utility-scale solar required.
•Strong understanding of construction drawings, materials, and solar installation .
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); experience with Procore preferred.
•Ability to demonstrate proposals and project concepts clearly and professionally.
•Excellent organizational, analytical, and verbal/written communication skills.
•Strong work ethic, high attention to detail, and a “can-do” attitude.
•Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
