Job Summary

The Plant Engineer will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to a fossil fuel fired power plant. The position is charged with maintaining the safe and reliable operation of the plant as an integral part of the Technical Support Team. Assists and provides technical guidance in the maintenance and repair of plant facilities and equipment.

Job Description Key Accountabilities:

•

Employs technical expertise to troubleshoot power plant generation and auxiliary system problems, providing consultation, inspection, testing, and recommendations

•

Provide technical support in the development and review of specifications, work scopes, bids, test procedures, commissioning plans and vendor reports

•

Plan and conduct work requiring judgment, independent evaluation, and selection, adaptation or modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria

•

May be required to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to major projects that have significant impact on programs in varied areas and related fields

•

Analyze equipment failures, determine root causes, recommend recovery plans, and impose cost effective solutions to prevent reoccurrence

•

Devise new approaches to problems encountered and develop engineering criteria ensuring compliance with the design criteria and standards

•

Coordinate, complete and provide written reports of inspections of equipment as requested by plant management and in coordination with plant operations

•

Maintain and develop plant drawings, standards and procedures as appropriate

•

Provides plant management with timely and accurate information regarding policies, guidelines and external events impacting the plant

•

Participate in and on occasion lead special project and committees

•

Works safely and ensures all workers on assigned projects follow safety and environmental procedures, policies and regulatory requirements

•

Will be subject to on call duty to provide essential engineering coverage

•

Engineering oversight for all plant mechanical systems, including boilers, rotating equipment, lubrication, etc.

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:

•

4 yrs. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial, Nuclear)

•

And 6 yrs. related job experience

•

In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs

•

Level/grade will be determined based on experience
