Position Summary: The main role of a Plant Manager is to oversee the manufacturing process and to ensure that production lines run without any problems and minimum downtime. Working together with supervisors and top management, they also ensure that products are manufactured to a certain quality standard and adheres to other safety/industry-related regulations. Planning and organizing production schedules are a big part of this job.
- Communicate the schedule to department leads and make sure we don’t miss ship dates. Communicate daily to Director of Operations how production is doing on the weekly schedule and challenges that arise.
- Plan for short term efficiency gains and plan for long term growth.
- Serve the department leads by making sure they have everything they need to succeed.
- Help Production leads see blind spots in leadership and production processes. (Coach) The best idea is not worth anything if you can’t communicate it.
- Set the tone in the shop for attitude.
- Enforce company policies.
- Keep a clean and organized shop.
- MUST have 1 year experience as a Fidelity department manager.
- Excellent communication and computer literacy skills.
- Good people management skills and management of staff.
- Identifying problems and implement preventative strategies to minimize risk.
- Being able to develop good working relationships and trust with various teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills, analytic ability and be very detail-oriented.
- Working well with many different departments.
- Always keeping the end-user/customer in mind.
- Being results and deadline-driven.
- Technical expertise – it’s essential for this position to understand our product flow and the basics of how our products come together.
- Organization skills – An organized shop is an efficient one, so they must be organized and committed to meeting deadlines. They must also work closely with the Continuous Improvement Manager to achieve this.
- Leadership skills – Production managers are coaches and drivers for Production, inspiring other team members to give their best effort and setting the direction for monthly/annual goals.
- Communication skills – being able to speak, listen, and write well is important, as production managers often facilitate meetings, trainings, on the spot problem solving and create reports.
