Piping Engineer

The BOP Piping Engineer will provide technical support to the Engineering Services department for an Extended Power Uprate Project (EPU). The Piping Engineer is responsible for sponsoring and implementing power uprate modifications, piping analysis on new and existing components within the auxiliary components, and interfacing with systems engineering, structural engineering, piping design, and support design groups, for the design of piping systems and pipe supporting elements. Additionally, the Piping Engineer will be responsible for:Preparing and reviewing engineering specifications, drawings, CAD models, analytical reports, and other documentation involving piping components;

Reconciling pipe stress reports;

Interpreting and applying code requirements;

Reviewing proposed piping support systems, identifying issues, and recommending appropriate, cost-effective solutions;

Managing workload to meet project commitments;

Consulting with other on-site teams for field-related issues including follow-up reports, design modifications, and supporting technical procedural changes for Operations & Maintenance, as well as interfacing with the Project Manager and other on-site teams to ensure project deliverables are met;

Identifying critical spare parts;

Preparing and/or supporting factory and plant startup testing;

Providing field support during modification walkdowns, installation, and testing;

Complying with all site safety and regulatory requirements;

Performing other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.

Must meet Nuclear requirements for unescorted plant access

Must possess a valid US driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record

Must be a US citizen or permanent resident

Must have a minimum of a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Structural Engineering with a minimum of 13 years of experience performing Engineering work in a nuclear power plant or the power generation industry

Must have a minimum of 7+ years of experience in mechanical engineering

Must have knowledge of ASME piping codes

Must have knowledge of the design, selection and application of pipe supporting elements, as well as piping design principles and systems

Must have knowledge and experience utilizing CAD software

Prior experience at a Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) Nuclear Power Plant and previous EPU Project Support is highly desired.

Thermal performance modeling and monitoring experience

Professional Engineering license

The Piping Engineer will need to be able to sit for long periods of time but also support walkdowns, installation and testing. This might include the ability to lift up 50 lb., walking, crawling, climbing ladders, or walking for extended periods. The Piping Engineer’s vision must be able to accommodate the following:Being able to see and respond to various situations within the plant (involving awareness of surroundings)
