Pipeline Maintenance Planner and Scheduler
The Pipeline Maintenance Planner and Scheduler is accountable for the efficient planning of preventive and corrective maintenance activities at pipeline systems and related facilities. This role involves collaborating with technicians and supervisors in the operations and maintenance teams to ensure effective maintenance execution.
Responsibilities:
•Develop maintenance plans and support scheduling in alignment with the organization's health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) protocols and guidelines. Create task plans that reduce or eliminate risks associated with hazardous maintenance conditions.
•Develop maintenance plans and support scheduling in accordance with the organization's integrity management system, maintenance guidelines, and work management protocols.
•Ensure strict compliance with the organization's business controls and approved vendors or suppliers. Track direct and indirect expenses through a work order approval system to monitor and manage maintenance budgets effectively. Generate cost estimates when necessary.
•Organize and facilitate planning sessions, including operations-maintenance coordination meetings, weekly schedule reviews, backlog assessments, and similar gatherings.
•Create plans that reduce equipment downtime and optimize resource utilization for safe, efficient, and productive outcomes.
•Identify, organize, and accelerate the procurement of necessary materials, components, external support, third-party services, contractors, equipment, and tools to facilitate maintenance activities.
•Detect potential obstacles or shortcomings that might affect the maintenance timeline and suggest solutions to address them.
•Start the purchasing process and monitor the progress of planned materials and contracted services.
•Identify, organize, coordinate, and help schedule support services (such as scaffolding, insulation, painting, etc.) in an integrated way to form a cohesive plan.
•Formulate an annual preventive maintenance strategy along with resource needs and projections.
•Prepare maintenance scopes of work for contracted services, including assembling work packages as needed.
•Collaborate closely with maintenance supervisors and technicians during the planning and scheduling of upcoming maintenance tasks.
•Partner with the supply chain management team when planning and scheduling required materials and contracted services.
•Report issues related to contractor performance or non-compliance to the immediate supervisor, support services supervisor, and supply chain team as appropriate.
•Develop, apply, and leverage best practices in maintenance planning and scheduling, including but not limited to backlog and forward log management, standard job plans, time-on-tools metrics, service deliverable dates (SDD), standard norms, and others.
•Support the rollout of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and provide training to users.
•Maintain ongoing audits of planning, scheduling, and execution workflows and processes. Introduce improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of planning and scheduling.
•Contribute to the creation of weekly and monthly key performance indicators (KPIs) for maintenance. Analyze root causes of non-compliance, propose solutions, and implement fixes.
•Participate in or lead pipeline readiness-for-operations (RFO) maintenance initiatives to establish necessary planning, maintenance systems, processes, and procedures.
•Maintain personal responsibility for individual performance and conduct.
•Operate in full compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations impacting pipeline operations, including those from EPA, DOT, OSHA, and PHMSA.
Education and Certifications:
•At minimum, a high school diploma or GED is required. A technical degree or a nationally recognized certification (such as NCCER) is preferred. PMP certification or equivalent is advantageous.
Skills & Experience:
•At least 5 years of experience in routine maintenance scheduling.
•At least 5 years of proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
•Solid expertise in planning, scheduling, and execution processes, procedures, and best practices.
•Experience with CMMS systems like SAP, Maximo, etc.; proficiency is a plus.
•Experience with SAP/Prometheus is preferred.
•Familiarity with MS Project is beneficial.
•Knowledge of pipeline operations, safety protocols, and regulatory standards is preferred.
•Outstanding problem-solving and analytical abilities.
•Strong leadership and organizational capabilities are essential, with a methodical and detail-focused approach.
•Well-organized, with excellent planning skills; capable of handling multiple tasks promptly, accurately, and meeting deadlines.
•In-depth knowledge and experience in planning, scheduling, and execution processes, procedures, and best practices.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
