The Parts and Service Director is a leadership role responsible for overseeing and cohesively managing the parts and service departments. Each department has a supervisor and combined consists of xx members. The director will ensure and improve customer satisfaction, strong vendor relationships, profitability, and efficient operations through data driven decisions while adhering to company and industry standards. They should expect to work closely with senior management to align daily operations with Whitney & Son Inc.’s long-term strategic goals.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the parts and service teams aligning them to meet company goals and KPIs
- Develop and execute strategies, policies, budgets, and procedures for each department enhancing all-around performance and driving long-term strategic goals
- Report directly to senior management
- Oversee parts operations: parts systems, processes, and procedures
- Analyze market trends and industry developments to identify opportunities for growth and improvement
- Ensure parts are available in line with customer support requirements
- Regularly review the parts inventory database and evaluate strategies to optimize inventory levels and reduce obsolescence
- Monitor and develop sourcing to meet market and customer expectations
- Ensure customer satisfaction and strong vendor relationships through reliable service delivery and proper communication
- Address escalated issues and service needs
- Oversee service operations: scheduling, dispatch, and performance of both in-house and field service technicians
- Monitor diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs for quality and ensure they are performed in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and safety standards
- Maintain regulatory compliance including OSHA, DOT, and environmental safety
- Develop and manage departmental budgets: revenue forecasts, labor costs, and parts pricing
- Track and report key financial metrics identifying opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth
- Balance profitability with improving operational efficiency
- Education
: bachelor’s degree (business, operations, engineering, or related field)
- Experience
: 5+ years managing parts and service within heavy equipment, construction, or a related industry- Technical skills
: deep knowledge of part logistics and service operations; solid understanding of departmental functions (sales support, vendor relations, service performance); proficient in ERP systems, service scheduling software, and inventory management tools; able to interpret financial data to make strategic decisions
