Position Overview
Serve as a part-time call-taker for GRDA’s Public Safety Dispatch Center (Temporary assignment up to 9 months).
Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
•Serve as a call-taker for GRDA’s Public Safety Dispatch Center and be able to route phone or radio traffic appropriately, based upon circumstances.
•Conduct computer checks, as appropriate, of individuals or items through OLETS, NCIC/FBI Database/OSBI database(s).
•Dispatch appropriate resources as appropriate or requested.
•Monitor, respond to, and address physical security alarms and cameras overseen by GRDA.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualities:
•Employee in this position should possess extremely strong interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, as they will be responsible for working with property owners and stakeholders around GRDA properties, GRDA employees and officers, as well other public safety entities and the public.
•Employee must have proficient telephone and computer skills such as: basic typing; familiarity with common MS Office Applications to include Outlook, Word, and Excel;
•Ability to learn and operate GRDA Dispatch specific software to include: Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Access Control system, OLETS, GeoSafe, and Closed Circuit camera system;
•Familiarity with creating and editing Adobe PDF documents;
•Ability to operate scanner/copier; ability to speak clearly and listen carefully to communicate via telephone or Police Radio.
•Must have the ability to work in fast-paced, tense, and rapidly evolving environment.
•Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with other individuals.
•Must be able to multi-task.
•Should have a positive attitude, and ability to work efficiently and effectively in stressful situations.
•Ability to work with sensitive and private information, while maintaining confidentiality.
Education, Training, Experience:
•Previous Police Dispatch Experience Preferred
Certificates, Registrations, and Licenses:
•Valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or the ability to convert within 30 days for those with an out of state driver’s license that are an Oklahoma resident.
Physical/Mental Requirements & Working Conditions: Must be able to sit/stand at a desk for long periods of time.
Other information:
•Must pass successful fingerprint - background check allowing access to State and Federal Level Persons Index (III and OSBI Databases). No Felony Convictions, convictions of crimes of moral turpitude.
•The person selected for this position may be required to attend related training to become more proficient and familiar with job-related tasks or duties.
•Position is located at the GRDA Energy Control Center in Locust Grove, OK
•Part-time Dispatchers are able to work when available (within reason) to train for the position (e.g. six hours on one day from 0800 to 1400, or four hours on Saturday from 1100 to 1600). Once trained, while there is no set monthly schedule, we need applicants who will be available to work shifts that may include days, nights, and weekends on occasion. Must work at least 15 hours per month.
