An opportunity currently exists for an Electrical Engineer within the Project Development Department of AltaLink. Reporting to the Manager of P&C, SCADA & Telecom Engineering, the successful candidate will work with internal and external technical staff to ensure that all additions and modifications to AltaLink’s transmission assets meet quality standards from a protection and control (P&C) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) perspective.
As such, this individual will provide technical leadership at all critical project phases from planning through to implementation and final acceptance. This position will appeal to individuals with a utility P&C, Substation Networking, Remote Supervisory, and Distributed Control Engineering background who are looking for an opportunity to develop their engineering and leadership talents in a dynamic utility environment.
The successful candidate will be accountable for the following:
+ Create and support writing of Design Basis memorandums (DBM) that provide sufficient detail to allow accurate estimating and clear direction to the Engineering contractor; + Review technical drawings & specifications to ensure each project meets acceptable standards for operability, functionality, maintainability, reliability, durability and safety; + Answer EPCM contractors’ questions to ensure each project meets acceptable standards for operability, functionality, maintainability, reliability, durability and safety;
Requirements
Minimum qualifications for this position are as follows:
Experience with the following would be an asset:
+ Working knowledge of MathCAD, CAPE , Microsoft Word, and Excel including the use of macros;
