The Opportunity
Our Operations Planning East team is looking to add an #EnergyProblemSolver in Calgary to support Canadian Mainline and TQM Systems Operations.
We are seeking a full-time Engineer-in-Training (EIT) who has knowledge and experience in hydraulic analysis, operational coordination, optimization, and management of facility outages on TC Energy's Canadian-based pipeline systems.
What You’ll Do
As part of a team, plan and support the operation of TC Energy's Canadian Mainline and Coastal Gas Link (CGL) pipeline systems. The job functions are varied and change daily depending on current operations, and what is happening across the system over the short term. Job functions would include:
•Plan and coordinate the short term scheduling of maintenance activities (up to 6 months) to maintain capacity for existing gas transportation customers, while ensuring activities are able to be executed as planned with internal departments as well as interconnecting pipelines and gas consumers
•Prepare and review outage procedures for pipeline maintenance
•Support capacity determination, derivation of shipper firm requirements, fuel use determination, and availability of non-firm transportation capacity
•Often required to interact with a variety of teams including Gas Control, Field Operations, System Design, Engineering, Pipeline Integrity, Regulatory, Commercial, and external customers
•Occasional field site visitation to present and discuss operational topics
•Perform various analytical/technical assignments requiring a general familiarity within a broad field of engineering/technology
•Conduct independent studies and analyses to develop interpretations and conclusions
•Problem-solve using a combination of standard processes or methods previously developed
•Utilize a pipeline simulation model to analyze pipeline hydraulics and plan the operation of the TC Energy gas pipeline system to optimizes various objectives
•Given the dynamic nature of the day-to-day operation, on-call and response to tight timelines is required
•Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning

Minimum Qualifications
•Bachelor Degree in Engineering recognized by APEGA, including registration as a member-in-training
•1-3 or more years of progressive relevant experience
•Experience in pipeline simulation modeling i.e. Synergi Gas Solver
•Knowledge of gas pipeline hydraulics and familiarity with the Mainline and/or CGL natural gas transmission systems is a requirement

•Good oral and written business communication and presentation skills
•Aptitude with computer simulation programs
•Strong interpersonal skills with good influencing, negotiating and facilitation abilities
•Work effectively in a rapidly changing environment with changing priorities
This position requires candidates to:
•Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
•Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada, US and Mexico)
•Travel to other company locations for meetings. This will involve some overnight stays away from home base
•Be part of an on-call rotation and provide emergency support as required
