About This Job

The Operations Manager position directs and manages all plant production operations with overall responsibilities for safety, production, quality, and other production-related activities.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties & Responsibilities

•

Direct and manage plant operations for production, quality, safety and overall leadership.

•

Coordinate plant activities through planning with plant Supervisors to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner with the primary focus on employee safety and customer service.

•

Implement cost effective systems of control over manpower, wages and salaries, operating expenditures, and production targets.

•

Control and minimize labor, overtime, and production line downtime.

•

Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace or adjust plant facilities and equipment when necessary.

•

Provide leadership, training, and development opportunities to accomplish the company goals and objectives.

•

Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.

•

Provide direction, development, and leadership to plant supervisors and floor personnel.

•

Develop operations department head count structure to effectively meet goals.

•

Partner with plant and corporate management to develop and implement guidelines for employee evaluations, recruitment, and promotion.

Implement solutions to improve the flow of production.

Manage finished goods and raw material inventories.

Develop, measure, and continually improve metrics and KPIs to drive continuous process improvements.

Vast knowledge of Six Sigma principles.

Strong aptitude for problem solving and making timely decisions.

Resourcefulness and a think outside the box approach to certain areas would be beneficial.

Monitor the day-to-day running of the business to ensure effective progress.

Lead our robust safety culture emphasizing individual and management accountability and safe work practices.

Other duties as assigned.

Ability to remain focused in difficult and complex situations.

Qualifications & Education Requirements

•

Bachelor's degree required and 5 - 7 years' experience in managing plants (petroleum or chemical industry preferred), or equivalent combination of education and experience.

•

Experience with managing 5+ direct reports and 150+ indirect.

•

Solid track record of implementing and executing operational methods that support plant and corporate goals and strategies.

•

Ability to remain focused in difficult and complex situations.

•

A strong ability to assess business objectives, diagnose problems and prioritize solutions.

Strong leadership and coaching experience.

Must be able to interact with production teammates and leadership teams.
