The Operations Manager for the Liquefaction Facility (LQF) is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the Liquefaction, Storage, and Loading facilities (LQF and RTM) on Quintana Island, Texas. This position drives operational excellence by leading a team of Production Supervisors and day staff, fostering a robust safety culture, ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory standards, and achieving production and business objectives. The Operations Manager collaborates closely with cross-functional leadership to prioritize maintenance, optimize workflows, and enhance facility reliability and availability.
This position is based at the Quintana LQF Terminal, with periodic travel to other Freeport LNG facilities as needed. The incumbent must maintain a valid, unexpired driver’s license and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) at all times.
- Leadership and Team Development: Provide strategic direction to the LQF Production Supervisors and day staff, fostering a high-performing, engaged team. Set clear performance expectations, empower personnel to exceed goals, and promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee the safe and efficient operation of liquefaction units, LNG storage, and ship loading facilities, ensuring adherence to production targets and business objectives.
- Safety and Compliance: Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, permits, and company policies. Support initiatives to reduce emissions and drive environmental stewardship.
- Performance Management: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), identify operational inefficiencies, and implement innovative solutions to enhance workflows and achieve best-in-class reliability.
- Reporting and Communication: Prepare and deliver monthly production reports, daily performance updates, and weekly team communications. Report critical threats, constraints, and metrics to senior leadership.
- Coordination and Collaboration: Facilitate daily operational planning meetings with cross-departmental leaders, coordinate equipment downtime, prioritize maintenance activities, and provide operational input to support project initiatives.
- Budget and Resource Management: Assist the Production Manager in developing and managing the LQF Operations budget, ensuring adequate resources and staffing to support site activities.
- Training and Development: Partner with the Training Department to ensure the LQF Production team meets training requirements and progresses toward skill development goals.
- Incident Command and Investigations: Serve as Operations Section Chief within the Incident Command structure, participate in audits, investigations, and First Report steering team meetings as required.
- Talent Acquisition: Contribute to recruitment efforts by participating in candidate interviews and supporting staffing strategies aligned with operational goals.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance operational efficiency, and support the Production Manager in pursuing department objectives and operational excellence.
- Additional Responsibilities: Undertake special projects and other duties as assigned to support organizational goals.
- Proven leadership experience in operational or industrial environments, with a focus on team development and performance management.
- Strong understanding of safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance requirements in industrial operations.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process optimization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.- 8+ years’ direct work experience with high level functional knowledge in large-scale liquefaction or petrochemical processes - 5+ years’ supervisory experience
10+ years’ experience in oil & gas manufacturing Operations

Support the policies, efforts, and programs of Freeport LNG Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System. Actively participate in the HSE Management System Policies. Ensure that HSE concerns are given priority in all activities completed within their area of responsibility. Implement routine inspections to ensure safe operating conditions.
