Oil States is currently looking for qualified candidates for the position of Operations Manager. Position Summary
Manages the day-to-day operations of the plant and to plan, control, and direct the work force personally or through subordinate supervisors. As a Chemist, develop and/or recommend compounds to meet customers’ specifications.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- To provide technical support to all Oil States Divisions and outside customers on elastomer materials/technology.
- To oversee the research and development efforts on elastomer products.
- Evaluate new raw materials and new processes, new test fixtures and procedures.
- Maintain good customer relations, both internally and externally.
- Plan operations strategies (i.e. production, capabilities, long range capacity & planning, allocating resources to meet strategic alternatives, facility layout, etc.).
- Oversee planning production to meet demands.
- Manage day-to-day problems in the plant.
- Maintenance of Quality System.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed.
- New compound development based on customer requests or specifications.
- New compound development based on which markets OSI decides to get into (dissolvable, etc.)
- Make compound recommendation(s) based on specifications provided or develop compounds as needed.
- Raw material – evaluate new material that comes on the market to determine if it will give OSI advantage whether it’s technical or cost savings
- Raw material – find replacement for discontinued raw material and evaluate source changed materials
- Conduct field failure analysis and reporting.
- Help troubleshoot molding and rubber issues for customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Daily supervision of a team, which may consist of managers, supervisors, and/or individual contributors.
- Selection of employees who possess the qualities, technical skills and experience that will enable them to become effective and successful contributors.
- Create a working environment that actively develops and encourages employees to achieve their maximum potential and overcome deficiencies through education and on-the-job training.
- Lead and influence the activity of employees in a desired direction; demonstrate the ability to inspire support, trust and loyalty from your employees.
- Promote teamwork and distribute work among subordinates to ensure achievement of group objectives within expected time frame.
- Ability to evaluate strengths and weaknesses of personnel and differentiate between levels of on-the-job proficiency of subordinates to maintain an efficient and successful staff.
- Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.
- At least five (5) years of operations management and/or supervisory experience.
- At least five (5) years of chemistry experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced mathematical and analytical capabilities.
- Working understanding of elastomer materials.
- Use of a computer and other office equipment (telephone, scanner, printer, copier, etc.)
- Prolonged sitting.
- Moderate bending. standing and walking
- Occasional reaching, carrying, pushing and pulling.
- Lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally. Lifting over 20 pounds with assistance.
- Climbing stairs frequently.
- Secondary exposure to chemicals, solvents and air borne particulates.
- Proper use of PPE
