Operations Engineer
This is not a senior or supervisory level position. Candidates should have between 2- and 4-years' experience with focus on drilling and completions.
Sabine is looking for an Operation Engineer with between 2- and 4-years' experience in drilling and completions. The Operations Engineer position at Sabine Oil and Gas plays a crucial role in designing, planning, and executing both the drilling and completion phases of well construction. This individual is responsible for ensuring that wells are properly prepared for production, with a primary focus on health and safety, efficiency, and environmental considerations. The individual’s expertise will contribute to optimizing production and maximizing reservoir recovery while adhering to industry regulations and best practices.
- Ensure all drilling and completion activities adhere to environmental regulations, safety guidelines, and industry best practices. Collaborate with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) personnel to implement safety protocols and emergency response plans
- Conduct risk assessments and propose mitigation measures to ensure safe and efficient operations
- Supervise field operating personnel and operating expenses and provide the necessary technical support to minimize same
- Provide the necessary on-site technical support and/or supervision when necessary
- Maintain active safety program for all field operations
- Collaborate with reservoir, geology, and production engineers to develop well construction and completion designs that align with project objectives and reservoir characteristics
- Select appropriate wellbore equipment for drilling and completion, considering well depth, pressure, temperature, and fluid properties
- Optimize completion design to enhance production rates and longevity, while minimizing costs and risks
- Thorough evaluation and preparation of drilling and completion procedures and AFE cost estimates for new well construction and completions. Supervise all field work with a focus on safety and operational efficiencies
- Thorough evaluation of reservoir engineering parameters, including but not limited to log evaluations, basic understanding of seismic, petrophysical analysis, reserve calculations and economic modeling
- Collaborate with construction, facilities, and production teams to ensure seamless transition between construction, drilling, completion, and production phases
- Oversee vendor selection as it relates to cost and technical recommendations, i.e., directional drilling, cement, wireline, coiled tubing, etc.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment installation, operational parameters, and any modifications made during the drilling and completion processes
- Establish KPI metrics, and coordinate consistent quarterly KPI meetings with vendors to maintain service quality standards
- Identify any value-added issues/projects, i.e., reserve additions, cost-saving ideas, etc.
- Maintain open and consistent communication with both the Western and Eastern Business Units to ensure all goals and KPI metrics are aligned across disciplines
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in drilling and completion techniques
- 2 to 4 years of total experience within the oil and gas industry, with a focus on drilling and completions operations in an onshore environment
- Prior field experience in drilling, completions, and production operations within the oil and gas industry
- Adherence to safety protocols and a commitment to environmental stewardship
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret technical data
- Excellent planning/organizational skills
- Able to handle large volumes of work
- Proficient in industry software for well design and data analysis (e.g., Spotfire, Fracpro, Wellview, Rimbase, Aries, Microsoft Suite)
- Willingness to work in challenging field conditions and travel to remote locations as required
- B.S. degree in petroleum engineering or equivalent engineering degree
