Key Areas of Responsibility
•Work with/under the CRO (Shift Lead) to ensure the overall safe and compliant operations of the RI LFG Genco facility (a combined cycle gas turbine power plant), consisting of various HMI control systems, four (4) Solar Taurus 60 gas turbines, a Dresser-Rand 10 MW full condensing steam turbine, heat recovery steam generators (HRSG’s), cooling towers, chillers, air compressors, land fill gas compression and conditioning plant, gas flare and various related ancillary equipment.
•Work with/under the CRO (Shift Lead) to ensure the overall safe and compliant operations of the RI LFG Genco facility (a reciprocating internal combustion power plant), consisting of four (4) Caterpillar reciprocating engines, chillers, air compressors, land fill gas compression and conditioning plant, gas flares and various related ancillary equipment.
•Ensure the routine field/local inspections, testing, reading, logs and rounds are completed in a manner as required by various procedures and with good sound engineering practices and deficiencies or out of normal conditions are brought to the attention of the CRO (Shift Lead).
•Assist with general operations, starting and stopping equipment, start-up and shutdown of the facility and various other operational activities of plant equipment.
•Complete inspections and gathering of operational data, readings, log-sheets, water testing/analyses related to water treatment, including waste water treatment; and take appropriate action to ensure equipment and systems continue operating within expected ranges, conditions and overall optimization needed for meeting plant specifications and expectations.
•Assist in assuring all maintenance activities in the facility, including planned outage work, unplanned outage work, routine activities and contracted service work on plant equipment and systems are coordinated through operations and a sponsor is assigned to all contractor related activities.
•Complete rounds and inspections of equipment and systems in a manner that routinely ensures no visual or audible signs of problems go unnoticed or unreported.
•Performs minor maintenance on equipment by tightening fittings, replacing valve packing, gaskets, filters and gauges. Cleaning, replacing, oiling and lubricating various components/parts and equipment as required and where experienced in.
•Performs various housekeeping tasks to ensure a neat, clean and safe work environment.
•Communicate and provide relevant input in representing operational concerns and needs within operations and to various departments and others within the organization as appropriate.
•Assist in development and initial training of new operators, including the training and advancement towards qualifying as a competent CRO (Shift Lead) as applicable.
•Assist in promoting and providing a safe and healthy work place for employees and contractors, including the adherence to and effective use of various personal protective equipment, systems, programs, policies and procedures as developed and required by the company.
•Develop a good understanding of and ensure operational compliance with environmental and regulatory regulations, rules and requirements, along with response roles to incidents.
•Assist with the inventory tracking and ordering of chemicals, gases, lubricants, etc., as needed for plant operations.

•Actively ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations
•Support and comply with Company policies and procedures as advised and documented in the Company’s employment policies as amended from time to time and as directed by Managers/Supervisors
•In addition to the duties set out above, the Operating Technician may be expected to perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the Company
Qualifications, Experience and Person Specification
•High School Diploma or equivalent.
•Basic math, verbal and writing communication skills.
•General technical knowledge and skills in power plant operations.
•The position requires shift work and typically a 12-hour rotating days and nights for the continuous operations of the facility.
•General experience with the operations of equipment and systems of a combined cycle power plant, including turbines, generators, boilers, compressors, chillers, rotating equipment, electrical equipment, control systems, water treatment and testing equipment.
•General computer skills with some proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite with specific emphasis on Excel and Word.
•Willing to work overtime, be on call for emergencies, call-outs for shift coverage and work flexible work hours from time to time.
•Comfortable with power plant equipment and systems and the ability to recognize abnormalities with equipment and systems in the overall facility to ensure it is operationally sound and within OEM guidelines and good sound engineering practices.
•Must be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as a team member. Qualifications and Experience
•This job requires the ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
•Exposure/proximity to loud noise, hot pipes, high pressure steam and high voltages where electrical shock is a potential hazard.
•Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
•Climb vertical access ladders and stairwells.
•Speak and listen clearly.
•See and distinguish the various colors of the light spectrum.
•Able to and for extended times be capable of sitting, reading technical documents and looking at computer monitors.
•Able to and for extended times be capable of working outdoors and in inclement weather at times.
•Must be able to see, hear, walk and talk effectively.
•Must be able to wear a respirator and various required personal protective equipment required for safely working with various materials and conditions.
