Job Title: North Field Superintendent
Location: Whitecourt, AB
Daily duties to include:
•Provide day to day leadership for field production operations for northern and central properties. Ongoing goal of optimization of producing wells - facilities to maximize production and lower operating costs.
•Ensure HWN's standards with respect to HSE and operating procedures are followed and implemented with respect to all aspects of our operational activities.
•Provide feedback and training for other operators. Ensure that all operators activities are conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible manor for HWN field properties - including daily production reporting,
•Ensure operations meet and are conducted within AER and WCB regulatory requirements and all lease and facilities met or exceeded required standards.
•Assist with the installation, maintenance and operation of surface pumping equipment and facilities to plan, execute and bring wells on stream in the timeliest and economic manner.
•Ensure dealings with contractors and joint venture partners are handled in a professional, ethical, and effective manner ensuring contractor & service work is conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible manner and that field work is consistent with HWN's HS&E requirements.
•Develop and maintain a positive culture inline with HWN executive direction.
•Conduct and promote a safety culture across operations.
•Support Maintenance and Safety Managers on implementation of new programs.
•Assist with budget process for operating capital and operating costs - and working within defined budgets.
•Plan/Cover Vacation during the year.
•Schedule shifts to ensure we have adequate manpower coverage on a day-to-day basis. Cover calls after hours for operational and emergency issues
•Other tasks that may be assigned to you by the Chief Operating Officer.
Qualifications and Requirements:
•A minimum of 15 years of experience in oil and gas field operations, with at least 7 years in a leadership role.
•Completion of a General Educational Development (grade 12) is required. GPO A-D or PFO A-D (previously Solis 1, 2, 3) or a Trades ticket or Tech diploma is also preferred.
•Proven track record of managing large-scale field operations, ensuring safety, compliance, and cost efficiency.
•Strong understanding of Alberta’s oil and gas industry regulations, including environmental, health, and safety standards.
•Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams.
•Strong commitment to safety, with a solid understanding of safety management systems and risk mitigation practices.
•Experience with project management, budget development, and cost control in a field operations environment.
•Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and resolve complex operational challenges.
•Knowledge of industry technologies and innovations that can enhance field operations.
•Ability to work in remote locations and manage a geographically dispersed team.
•Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to remote field sites across Alberta.
Preferred Skills:
•Experience with ERP systems, project management software, and operational data analytics tools.
•Strong relationships with regulatory agencies, contractors, and other industry stakeholders.
•Professional certifications in safety management or project management (e.g., PMP, CSP, etc.) are a plus.
Working Conditions:
•This position may require frequent travel to field sites across Alberta, including remote locations.
•Flexibility to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with extended hours during project milestones or operational incidents.
•This role may include time in both office-based and field-based settings, with a focus on ensuring operational efficiency on-site.
