Description:
The Non Ferrous Division Supervisor is responsible for supervising and working on a team that works with processes related to loading, unloading, upgrading, sorting, packaging and shipping non-ferrous scrap metal. The Non-Ferrous Division Supervisor is also responsible for supervising and working on a team that maintains and repairs the Harris Centurian baler as well as the equipment used in the non-ferrous division to process non-ferrous scrap metal. This manager will be part of developing and implementing continuous improvement processes for all non-ferrous operations, including safety, inventory, productivity, quality control, and employee satisfaction.
•Manage the various, non-ferrous metals processing groups including baling group, wire stripping area, incoming non-ferrous metals purchasing and load sorting and upgrading.
•Monitor and maintain superior quality control of the upgraded, processed non-ferrous metals. Verify that the detailed specifications of each processed, non-ferrous commodities are being met before the material is packaged and shipped.
•Ensure that daily, pre-shift equipment inspections are being completed. Monitor and maintain all non-ferrous production equipment including fork lifts, skid steers, alligator shear and wire strippers. Communicate maintenance and repair requirements to Shredder and Maintenance Superintendent.
•Supervise the group responsible for the monitoring and maintaining of the Harris Centurian baler.
•Properly follow company and OSHA safety rules and procedures.
•Willing to train and assist other employees as needed.
•Ensure a clean, safe and orderly workplace by delegating debris and hazard removal tasks to employees.
•Direct and coordinate non-ferrous division operations within company policies and procedures.
•Safety committee member with responsibilities to help conduct safety meetings and promote safe behavior throughout the company.
•Conduct weekly safety meetings and daily “5 Minute” Tool Box Safety Talks.
•Monitor and maintain a well-trained, motivated, and productive work force.
•Actively involved in establishing safety policies and procedures.
•Achieve established non-ferrous production goals, i.e. sorting, loading, shredding, shipping, etc.
•Conduct employee reviews and make monetary recommendations.
•Operate production equipment, when necessary.
•Attend all scheduled training and meetings.
•Maintain inventory of all production equipment parts.
•All other duties as assigned.
Working conditions are normal for a heavy industrial scrap metal recycling environment. Working in this environment requires the use of personal protective equipment including but not limited to; hard hat, safety glasses, high visibility safety vest or clothing, gloves appropriate to the task, hearing protection, and steel toe work boots. As in most scrap metal recycling jobs, the environment can be loud/noisy and dusty. Most of the work in the non-ferrous division is done inside but outside work, exposed to all weather conditions, is to be expected. Subject to regular bending, twisting, reaching, working overhead, working above ground and/or on irregular surfaces.

•Minimum of 3 years previous experience in scrap yard management.
•Expert knowledge of non-ferrous processing equipment operating principles.
•Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to the scrap metal recycling industry and the ability to convey that knowledge to employees.
•Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
•Flexible to work off hours, weekends, holidays in an industrial environment which includes being outdoors in all weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds for long periods of time, sit or stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs daily to reach work area. Position requires individual to: sit, bend at waist, twist upper body, stand, walk, and/or otherwise move around scrap metal recycling yard environment up to 10 hours per day.
