Performs complex work to support the IT needs of the Authority and its employees. Manages and maintains the company's network infrastructure, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and ensuring optimal network performance. Work is performed under regular supervision.
Consults an internal ticket tracking system to prioritize workload;
Configures, maintains, and monitors local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and wireless networks;
Performs basic troubleshooting and support for network-related issues, including connectivity problems and slow performance;
Monitors network performance and ensures system availability and reliability;
Installs, configures, and maintains network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points;
Set ups and manages network-related software, including VPNs, DHCP, and DNS services;
Helps enforce network security policies, including firewalls, antivirus software, and user access controls;
Assists in monitoring for unauthorized access, security threats, or vulnerabilities and escalates issues when necessary;
Maintains network diagrams, asset inventories, and configuration documentation;
Basic knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs; basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) for automation; familiarity with network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points; knowledge of Windows and/or Linux network environments; ability to work effectively with a team-player attitude; ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time; ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and ability to drive a vehicle daily.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in computer technology and three years of hands-on experience with network monitoring tools, exposure to Active Directory, Office 365, and cloud-based networking, and experience with troubleshooting network connectivity and performance issues.
Possession of a valid driver’s license according to state of residence.
