The Mold Setter is responsible for safely and efficiently installing and removing molds in injection molding machines, as well as connecting all necessary auxiliary equipment to ensure a successful startup. This role supports production needs by ensuring mold setups are performed correctly and timely, while maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
- Safely install and remove molds from injection molding machines
- Connect water lines, knockout bars, hydraulic lines, airlines, switches, hoppers, dryers, conveyors, and auxiliary equipment as required
- Perform mold setups in accordance with production schedules and safety protocols
- Verify that all process parameters are correctly applied to the press and auxiliary equipment
- Ensure that all mold bolts, clamps, water lines, knockouts, airlines, DME components, and appropriate nozzles are properly installed and secure
- Clean molds at the beginning of each shift and maintain cleanliness around press areas
- Remove all unnecessary items (tools, hoses, grease, etc.) from the press area before release to production
- Complete all required mold change documentation and maintain accurate records
- Support material handling team when mold setups are not required
- Assist with keeping machines and the plant floor clean and organized
- Experience: Minimum 6 months experience in mold setting
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and remain on feet for the entire shift
- Equipment Operation: Must be able to operate a forklift and overhead crane
- Attention to Detail: Must follow procedures accurately and ensure all connections and setups are done properly
- Teamwork: Work collaboratively with production, tooling, and maintenance teams to support smooth operation
- Fast-paced, industrial manufacturing setting
- Exposure to machinery, oils, greases, and moving mechanical parts
- Must wear PPE and follow all plant safety protocols
- Formal training or certification in injection molding or mold setup
- Familiarity with auxiliary equipment and different mold types
- Knowledge of safety practices in a plastic manufacturing environment
