The Position

Mine Utility Operator-1

Job Summary

Including but not limited to the following:

- Comply with all Imerys, MSHA and Equipment Mfg. Safety Policies and Procedures.

- Backup and assist all other classified positions.

- Fuels all equipment in the mine from the fuel truck.

- Assists the drillers and scalers with daily operational needs.

- Must be able to identify and manage daily needs of the position.

- Must be able to carry out duties of the following equipment:

- Powder Truck

- Fuel Truck

- Loader Operator

- Scaler

- Euclid Operator

- Motorgrader

- Driller

- Rockbreaker

- Crusher Operator

- Set up and inspect equipment prior to operation. (Preshift) Check all fluids, fuel, engine oil, hydraulic oil etc., tires, steering, brakes etc.

- Climb seven feet up a ladder to truck cab, move levers, depress foot pedals, and turn dials to operate power machinery such as off road haul truck.

- Become familiar with machine capabilities and limitations.

- Receive verbal instructions regarding material movement.

- Any other job duties assigned by management.

OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS

In the event of an emergency underground, individual must have the ability to walk out of the mine, approximately one mile and climb a 75’ escape ladder wearing a MSA W65 Self Rescuer Respirator.

Education and Experience requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent; Read and write English; basic math skills

- Preferred heavy equipment operation and maintenance experience.

- Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repairs and maintenance.

- Public Safety and Security — Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
