We are seeking a detail-oriented and versatile team member to support both finishing and machining operations in our production facility. This role is primarily responsible for deburring, finishing, and cutting raw materials, as well as packaging and counting parts to ensure accurate inventory control. The position also includes operating specialized equipment such as the fiberglass driller, CNC lathe, CNC mill, and other secondary finishing tools.
When primary tasks are completed, this individual will assist with CNC machining processes to help produce high-quality precision parts, contributing to the efficiency and success of the overall manufacturing operation.
- Tumble and wash work pieces per instructions on the blueprints.
- Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from work pieces, using files, grinders, wire brushes, or power tools per instructions on the blueprints.
- Count, package, and transfer parts to the production que.
- Perform manual machine shop tasks such as operating a table-mounted router, table-mounted bender as well as manual drill/tap operations.
- Perform light assembly tasks.
- Operate metal cutting saw(s).
- Distribute saw-cut materials and appropriate work orders.
- Operate and run fiberglass dept machines (driller, CNC lathe, and CNC mill).
- Load materials or work pieces into machines after the first part inspection has been completed.
- Remove products or work pieces from machines after the cycle is complete.
- Measure dimensions of completed products or work pieces to verify conformance to specifications. Compare to blueprint and check sheet dimensions and functional checks. Record results on the item check sheet.
- Monitor machine operation and control panel displays. Detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintain coolant and oil levels in all machines.
- Keep machines and work area clean and well organized.
- Empty machine hoppers.
- Confer with management to resolve machine malfunctions or production errors, or to obtain approval to continue production.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing other tasks as needed.
- Must have the ability to work in a team atmosphere to obtain common goals and objectives.
- Demonstrates effective listening skills.
- Ability to concentrate, and pay close attention to detail.
- Strong safety orientation. Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and specifications provided by engineering.
- Basic understanding of conventional measuring tools and techniques, to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
- Working knowledge of basic machine shop tools and equipment.
- Ability to power on and operate CNC machines with minimal assistance.
- High School / GED
- Two to five years of related manufacturing experience
- Machine shop work environment: Dust, grease, and metal shavings are common. Significant risks from equipment and the environment require constant care and vigilance. Be able to stand for long periods of time. Lift and hold up to 40 lbs.
