Operating in a Northern British Columbia mining environment on a two week in/two week out shift rotation, the Mine Superintendent is responsible for the creation, modification and delivery of a full range of engineering processes at the Silvertip Operation.
- The Underground Operation Superintendent will champion divisional and department safety;
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of all safety policies and procedures affecting the Mining Operation, and will ensure compliance with the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Miners in British Columbia;
- Lead by example and establish a safety culture by personally complying with all regulatory and company safety regulations at all times and ensure all employees are properly indoctrinated to the corporate safety culture;
- Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures;
- Develop, implement, and support operational work processes that support the business objectives, and Life of Mine (LOM) strategy of the underground mine. These processes include but are not limited to: operational execution, coordination with milling process, work audit, etc.;
- Develop of the operational budget and monitor variances on regular basis;
Develop operations improvement strategy and ensure the attitude of continuous improvement is driven within the Mine Operations department;
- Work closely with Geology, Engineering, Milling and Maintenance counterparts to support operational standards and ensure implementation;
- Develop and implement organizational assignments and plan for succession;
- Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reports for the Mine Operations department;
- Prepare scope of work and monitor its successful execution;
- Supervise special projects;
- Responsible for KPI tracking, Monthly Reports and Optimization of Studies;
- Rock Waste Management to meet MLARD program;
- Prepare AFE’s; and
- Other duties as assigned.
- P.Eng.(in Mining, Geology or related) registered in B.C.;
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years mining engineering experience with ten (10) in progressive supervisory or technical roles required;
- Proven safe work record is required;
- Excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office;
- Required Valid driver's license;
- Physically fit to perform the duties of the position.
- Willing to work a two-week rotation schedule, with 12-hour shifts per day at a remote camp.
- Our current designated marshalling locations are Vancouver, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Calgary, Edmonton, Whitehorse, Teslin, and Watson Lake.
