Position Summary

The Mine Superintendent will lead all day-to-day quarry operations at the Kiel limestone site, ensuring production targets, safety standards, and cost controls are met or exceeded. This role is accountable for managing the hourly workforce, executing the mine plan, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving continuous improvement in operational performance. The ideal candidate is hands-on, performance-driven, and capable of operating with minimal oversight in a high-expectation environment.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

•

Execute the daily and weekly mine plans, including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and crushing operations

•

Maintain production levels to meet tonnage, quality, and schedule requirements

•

Lead shift scheduling, task delegation, and workforce coordination to ensure continuous plant operation

•

Manage employees on-site including assigning job responsibilities, overseeing performance, and hiring

Safety & Compliance

•

Enforce MSHA, state, and company safety standards and policies

•

Lead daily safety meetings and audits; immediately address violations or hazards

•

Maintain inspection readiness and oversee environmental compliance reporting

Cost & Efficiency Management

•

Track and control operations, including labor, equipment hours, and fuel usage

•

Identify and resolve bottlenecks or inefficiencies in material movement, plant flow, or labor deployment

•

Monitor and improve equipment uptime and preventive maintenance adherence

Workforce Supervision

•

Supervise all hourly staff on-site, including equipment operators, laborers, and plant personnel

•

Conduct performance evaluations, corrective actions, and training

•

Lead by example with a no-excuses approach to reliability, accountability, and results

Reporting & Communication

•

Provide daily and weekly performance reports to executive management

•

Coordinate with sales, dispatch, and logistics teams to align production with customer demand

•

Maintain accurate records of tonnage, inventory, maintenance logs, and incident reports

Qualifications

•

Minimum 5 years of experience in surface mining or aggregates operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or superintendent role

•

Strong understanding of open-pit mining, drilling & blasting, crushing operations, and plant flow

•

Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment

•

Working knowledge of MSHA regulations and safety compliance protocols

•

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills

•

Ability to work long hours as needed, including early mornings and occasional Saturdays during peak season

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
