ASARCO LLC is a subsidiary of one of the world's largest Copper producers, Grupo Mexico, which ranks third in the United States in Copper production. ASARCO LLC is a fully integrated miner, smelter, and refinery of copper in the United States with over 2,800 employees spanning across five sites in Arizona and Texas.
We are looking for motivated students with a strong interest in the mining industry. Our internship program is 10 weeks long, in which you will receive important industry training and get involved in meaningful real-world projects like planning a program, designing a process, or implementing technology. The culmination of your program will include an opportunity to present your work to management at ASARCO & Grupo Mexico
- Chain of custody of blast hole sample through dug maps.
- Work with drill and blast to scientifically track multiple variables in test shots.
- Collection of daily production data and preparation of engineering reports.
- Assist surveyor in staking ore control and blast hole patterns using Trimble GPS equipment.
- Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles.
- Time management skills in performing multiple projects with various team members.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present findings and make recommendations.
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university on a full-time basis.
- Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate level.
- Must be majoring in Mining, Mining Engineering, Mining Technology, or closely related Engineering discipline.
