As we continue expanding in the Southeast, we’re seeking a highly experienced Millwright Foreman in Columbia, SC to lead field operations for precision equipment installation, alignment, and maintenance on major commercial and industrial sites.
Position Overview:
The Millwright Foreman is a working leader responsible for overseeing millwright crews and ensuring the successful installation, maintenance, and alignment of mechanical equipment. You will play a critical leadership role on-site—coordinating manpower, ensuring safety compliance, interpreting blueprints, and ensuring all machinery and systems are installed to specification and schedule. This role requires a deep technical background in industrial machinery, hands-on installation experience, and proven leadership on commercial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
•Supervise and lead a crew of millwrights on large commercial/industrial job sites.
•Oversee the installation, assembly, alignment, and repair of conveyors, pumps, compressors, turbines, fans, gearboxes, and other heavy mechanical equipment.
•Interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and equipment schematics to plan and execute precise installations.
•Perform and verify equipment alignment using laser alignment tools, dial indicators, and other precision instruments.
•Maintain a safe worksite, enforce company and OSHA safety standards, and conduct daily safety briefings.
•Coordinate daily work plans, schedule labor, materials, and equipment in coordination with project managers and general contractors.
•Ensure tools and materials are used properly and maintained in good condition.
•Provide technical guidance and mentorship to crew members, assisting in training and skills development.
•Track project progress, complete field reports, and communicate updates with supervisors and project management teams.
Required Qualifications:
•3+ years of experience as a millwright, with at least 2 years in a foreman or lead role on commercial or industrial projects.
•Proficient in the use of precision alignment tools, hand and power tools, rigging gear, and industrial lifting equipment.
•Strong understanding of machinery installation, shaft alignment, and equipment tolerances.
•Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, P&IDs, and technical drawings.
•Familiarity with conveyors, rotating equipment, structural supports, and vibration analysis.
•Knowledge of safety procedures, OSHA standards, and lockout/tagout protocols.
•Effective communication and team leadership skills.
•Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb, kneel, and work in industrial environments.
•Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
