Purpose/Overview
As a Mill Operator III your role is to be the ‘eyes and ears’ for the Control Room and notify them of any difficulties or conditions that would require immediate action.By conducting regular circuit checks identify problems within the Mill and Crushing circuits pro-actively that the Control Room may not recognize until a DCS input triggers an alarm in the Control Room.
The hourly salary rate for this role is $46.99 per hour.
Principal Duties:
- Responsible for monitoring and reporting on the Grinding, Dewatering, Crushing, and Sand Cyclone Circuits equipment to facilitate safe, environmentally conscious, efficient production of suitable slurry for the Flotation circuit.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections on all circuit conveyors, SAG mill, 24 x 42ft Ball Mill, lubrication systems, pumping and piping systems, SAG discharge screen, pebble Crushing circuit, reclaim feeders and all other ancillary equipment.
- Charge the grinding mills with media.
- Check and report densities, wet screen quick analysis.
- Facilitate Group Lockout when required.
- The position requires clear communication with the Central Control Room Operator, Mill Operations Supervisor, Mill Maintenance Department, Electrical Department and the Metallurgy Department.
- All delays in production shall be communicated immediately to the Mill Shift Supervisor.
- Complete daily reports and fill in log book.
- Perform shift to shift crossovers.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Equipment Usage:
Grinding operators must be qualified to operate:- Overhead Cranes.
- Mini-Ex Rock Breaker.
- Skid steer.
Occupational Health and Safety:
Grinding Operators must;
- Ensure the safe operation of equipment in their area.
- Wear all required PPE.
- Ensure a high level of housekeeping.
- Be proactive in hazard identification, mitigation and rectification.
- Adhere to all safety standards, and ensure compliance by employees working in their area.
- Adhere to all relevant SOP’S and follow safe operating practices.
- Identify and report dangerous occurrences. HSRC (sec. 1.7.1 – 1.7.3)
Grinding Operators must;
- Participate in crew meetings.
- Contribute to the development of a positive working atmosphere.
- Valid driver’s license. (can be an L)
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be capable of working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Must have 2-3 years Mill operating experience.
- 18 years of age by start date.
- Ability to preform tasks that require strength and stamina in extreme weather conditions.
- A team player that works well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.

The expected salary range for this role is CA$46.99 . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
