The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Mill Maintenance Instrumentation Apprentice to join our team. Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor, the successful candidate will ensure the safe, reliable, and effective operation and maintenance of Greenstone’s stationary equipment. They will assist in the development, design, and scheduling of the maintenance activities at Greenstone Mine.

Key Responsibilities

- Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for each task.

- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of stationary industrial machinery under the supervision of a Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician.

- Support experienced Instrumentation Technicians in installing, maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting various control and measurement devices used in industrial settings.

- Learn how to safely operate hand and power tools.

- Perform routine maintenance, including inspections, cleaning, and lubrication of equipment.

- Assist with diagnosing and repairing malfunctions in pneumatic, electronic, and microcomputer-based instruments that monitor and control parameters such as pressure, flow, and temperature.

- Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Attend all required on-the-job training and complete necessary coursework, including off-site trades education.

Required Experience and Skill Set

- Industrial work experience in mining or other heavy industry is considered an asset.

- This position is based in Geraldton, Ontario.

Certifications

Education

- High school diploma, General Education Development (GED), or combination of education and work-related experience.

Pre-apprenticeship certificate or diploma in Instrumentation or a related trade is an asset.
