The MIG Welder plays a crucial role in our production process, responsible for performing various welding techniques including MIG Welding. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in welding operations, strong technical skills, and a commitment to producing high-quality welds.
- Welding Operations: Perform welding operations using MIG welding techniques on metal components and assemblies according to engineering drawings, blueprints, or job specifications.
- Machine Setup: Set up MIG welders according to job requirements. Adjust machine settings, select appropriate welding consumables, and ensure proper alignment of workpieces for welding.
- Quality Control: Inspect welded joints for accuracy, quality, and adherence to welding standards using visual inspection methods and non-destructive testing techniques. Make adjustments to welding parameters as needed to maintain quality standards.
- Material Preparation: Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and/or chamfering as necessary to ensure proper fit-up and weld penetration. Select appropriate welding filler materials and shielding gasses based on material type and thickness.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while performing welding operations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe work practices to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of welding activities, including welding procedures, material certifications, and quality inspection results. Complete welding logs, production reports, and other documentation as required.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment, including cleaning, calibration, and troubleshooting to ensure proper functioning and minimize downtime. Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification or vocational training in welding technology or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in welding operations, with proficiency in MIG welding.
- Strong knowledge of welding processes, techniques, and equipment.
- Familiarity with welding codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience working with a variety of metals, including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
- Experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment is a PLUS.
