Coast Electric is currently seeking a Member Service Representative (Cashier) to provide prompt, accurate and courteous service to our members, the public, and employees.

Job Responsibilities
Successfully completes Coast Electric's Member Service Training. Learns to effectively utilize the customer information system software required to access and enter information into members' accounts and to enter and balance payments made by members. Takes payments and provides members with receipts for payments presented at the counter. Opens, identifies, and balances mail and night deposits. Enters and edits all payments received. Prepares daily bank deposits to include all cash and checks taken in during the day. Secures all payment stubs in the vault, including mail, counters, and miscellaneous payments. Receives and processes member name and/or address changes and meter readings. Assists members with any complaints they might have, including billing complaints. Assists commercial members applying for new service. Obtains completed application from member. Determines if account is a corporation or DBA (doing business as). Computes appropriate deposit based on the size of the business and anticipated usage. Ensures that appropriate permits, etc. have been obtained. Receives and records accurate and legible notes concerning comments, inquiries, extensions, complaints, etc., and actions taken in members' accounts. Makes billing arrangements on residential accounts. Assists in answering questions concerning services and marketing programs offered by Coast Electric Power Association ("Coast Electric") and CoastConnect, LLC ("CoastConnect"), referring to a more experienced member service representative for assistance as needed.
Provides support to other offices, servicemen, field service representative, etc. Answers questions concerning marketing programs offered by Coast Electric and CoastConnect. Performs audits on residential accounts by investigating usage considered to be out of the normal range.
Job Requirements
A high school graduate or equivalent is required.
Must have a minimum of one year of experience working with the public.
Must be able to work overtime.
Must be able to work weekends during outages and disasters.
Must have the ability to accurately count money and make change.
Must be able to identify counterfeit money.
Must have the ability to work as part of a team.
Must have excellent communication skills and be able to deal with people in a courteous and effective manner in person and by telephone.
Must have the ability to communicate with supervisor and peers to provide information in written form or in person.
Must be able to work in a highly stressful, fast-paced office environment while dealing with the public.
Must be able to read and understand sentences, paragraphs, information, and ideas presented in writing.
Must have the ability to process information by compiling, coding, calculating, or verifying information or data.
Must have the ability to read and understand sentences, paragraphs, information, and ideas presented in writing in work-related documents.
Must have the ability to speak clearly to convey information and ideas verbally so others will understand.
Must have the ability to listen and give attention to what other people are saying, take time to understand the points being made, ask questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Must possess a willingness to learn new procedures and skills.
Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to perform multiple functions simultaneously.
Must have comput r skills and be able to learn how to use customer information systems and scanning software.
Working Conditions And Physical Characteristics
The work is mostly sedentary and performed inside in an air-conditioned setting. Must be able to lift 20 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Must be able to reach, handle, work with fingers, and feel. Must be able to speak and listen and have an effective, courteous, and persuasive speaking voice when answering the phone and working with other employees. Must be able to hear in order to communicate via a phone system. Must possess visual acuity and manual dexterity.
