Title: Engine Design and Assembly Engineer
Location: GE Transportation; (A Wabtec Company); Erie, PA
Job Description:
The Engine Design Engineer is responsible for the technical/engineering of the assigned projects in terms of scope, timely delivery, quality, and compliance. The Engineer will interface with respective GE departments and local suppliers to execute assigned projects. The candidate should have a solid engineering background and proven experience with leading various manufacturing and assembly projects.
Essential Responsibilities:
•Responsibilities to include development of concept design, detailed design, and design analysis for Diesel Engines.
•Act as the technical authority for production related issues at GE facilities.
•Ownership of stated technical/cost/reliability/performance requirements of the design.
•Interactions will include engineering sub-system teams; systems engineering; and drafting team in Erie, PA and global sites.
•Complete design work and design analysis as required to meet design goals.
•Write drawing change orders and interface with drafting team for layouts, detail design, drawings and change implementation.
•Review and approve designs developed by GE designers & 2-D detailed drawings completed by drafting.
•Participate as presenter in Tollgate 500 level technical design reviews.
•Supports the advanced design and development of mechanical components.
•Drive cross-functional teams to execute on critical project milestones, including but not limited to, Design Reviews, material orders, prototype builds, field testing and launch.
Desired Skills:
•Experience with managing multiple projects simultaneously.
•Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.
•Experience with GD&T, general mfg processes, tooling and Six Sigma.
•Knowledge of mechanical design and advanced manufacturing processes.
•Experience working in ANSYS/COSMOS and/or other commercially available FEA programs as well as 3D modeling (UG or Solid Works), a plus.
•Knowledge of Reliability data analysis through statistical modeling.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent related technical experience.
