The Mechanical Designer orders specific systems/products to meet customer requirements
- Receive sales order and discuss technical data with salesman, customer, or OEM.
- Provide detailed screen layouts for coordination with the above and suggest opportunities for improvement.
- Using internal design guides and references, design product with a CAD system and create detailed production drawings.
- Maintain appropriate files of drawings, engineering records and related information for order specific design.
- Ensure orders are processed on a timely basis to meet or beat internal deadlines.
- Coordinate order details with applications engineering department.
- Cross check sales orders with team members.
- Issue engineering and sales change orders, purchase requisitions, etc.
- Populate data for components in ERP system.
- Provide detail drafting support to other Design Engineering Department associates.
- Train and provide technical mentoring to Drafters and Engineering Associates.
- Associates degree in Engineering or in Drafting with CAD classes with a minimum of 5 years’ experience or CAD classes/professional training in Drafting with demonstrated proficiency in SolidWorks with a minimum of 7 years’ experience.
- Proficiency in Polydeck’s ERP system for US, Chile and Peru.
- Ability to train others in Engineering Department specific processes.
- Uses independent judgement and discretion based upon the employee’s experience in the position and knowledge of the products, equipment, and services.
- Moderate levels of stress may be experienced in the performance of the job.
- Position is performed in a general office environment, home office, or approved remote workspace.
