- Work with the maintenance supervisor to schedule routine maintenance.
- Preventive maintenance and repairs on coal handling and conveying equipment.
- Diagnose equipment failures and conduct routine inspections.
- Operates equipment in conjunction with repairs/preventative maintenance tasks, including material handling equipment within safety requirements
- Operates mobile/powered, and/or heavy equipment to load/unload, remove, and/or transport materials.
- Operates equipment in conformance with established standard operating procedures, with respect to safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
- Assists operating functions as necessary to keep equipment running safely.
- May work alone, with minimum supervision, and works with other Maintenance Technicians.
- Coordinates and works in conjunction with Operators and Technicians in the performance of maintenance tasks.
- Receives and follows instructions on scheduled or emergency repair, installation, and inspection work to be performed. Inspects equipment for loose, worn, or defective parts; misalignment, and improper lubrication. Makes repairs and adjustments for proper operation and maintenance of operating units, conveyors, buildings, and mobile equipment.
- Locates and diagnoses trouble and determines material and replacement parts/tools needs and the most expedient method of making repairs. Notifies supervision of mechanical issues, impending delays to units, and assistance or material needs for repairs. Notifies responsible parties for safety, environmental, and production requirements.
- Uses power tools, hand tools, heating and burning equipment, and welding equipment in making repairs, fabrications, assemblies, and installations. Performs rigging as necessary.
- Answers service calls.
