Brief Description

Under broad guidance, the Automotive Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repairs to automotive and engine-powered equipment used by HRSD. The technician must have the ability to troubleshoot and repair gasoline, natural gas, propane, hybrid electric and diesel vehicles, and engine-powered equipment. Must participate in a team-oriented environment.

Required

- High School Diploma or GED

Experience

Required

- Minimum of 2 years technical experience in automotive maintenance field

Desired

- Minimum of 2 years working in a medium-sized fleet (over 100 vehicles)

Licenses and Certifications Requirements

- Valid Commercial Driver’s license with Class A designation from state of residence. Must be obtained within 1 year of appointment to the position.

- Class A Virginia State Inspection License. Must be obtained within 1 year of appointment to the position.

- Must complete 6 of 8 ASE Tests in Automotive or Diesel Truck areas within 4 years of appointment to the position.

- Must obtain EPA 609 certification for HVAC within 1 year
