Technician

THE COMPANY:

Standard Laboratories is an ISO accredited lab for testing coal and metallurgic coke. We strive to provide coal, water and metallurgic coke testing and analysis of the highest quality to energy and environmental industries around the world.

We are located at 2005 Donna Dr., Ashland Ky.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is a field and/or prep position in an independent coal testing lab, serving multiple companies in the coal and metallurgic coke industry. Flexibility with day and evening shifts Sunday through Saturday, overtime as required.

Employees are expected to collect material in the field following standardized procedures and prepare materials for physical and chemical tests according to ASTM standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

New hires will be trained upon hiring to:

1. Collect on-site samples and prepare the samples for analysis.

2. Maintain company equipment and vehicles as necessary to ensure proper operations.

3. Conduct quality control analysis to demonstrate and document data validity.

4. Potentially report data to customers using Microsoft and Adobe software.

Required:

- Must be comfortable using computers.

- Basic math and mechanical skills.

- Move up to 50 pounds and lift up to 20 pounds of materials.

- Must be motivated to learn new equipment and procedures.

- Organized and detail oriented.

- Willing to work overtime, evenings and weekends as necessary.

Additional Requirements

- Must have a valid state driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work.

- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and random drug testing during employment.

- NOT necessary, but a plus: Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) training.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.50 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
