Tecogen technicians work on our energy-efficient line of stationary engines. This position provides the opportunity to work for one of the largest cogeneration companies in the area, providing combined heat and power as well as cooling to our customers. Regular responsibilities of an Engine Mechanic include daily travel in a company service vehicle to dispersed customer locations in upstate NY. The successful applicant will report to the Tecogen Area Supervisor.
Engine Mechanic Responsibilities:
•Preventative engine maintenance and service, inclusive of basic oil and filter changes, and replacement of common tune-up components.
•Major system repairs such as removal and installation of cylinder heads, and complete engines.
•Engine diagnostic tests such as compression ratio, cylinder leak down, and exhaust emissions sampling.
•Replacement of factory parts and components on our full line of products.
•Troubleshooting of control systems using digital voltmeters, current clamp-on meters, and the diagnostic capabilities of Tecogen’s embedded control systems.
Engine Mechanic Qualifications:
•Clean and valid driver’s license (operates company-supplied vehicle)
•Lift and maneuver objects weighing more than 60 lbs
•Ability to read and follow manuals, electrical, and mechanical diagrams
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
•Motivation to become self-sufficient and educated on Tecogen products and troubleshooting techniques.
•Ability to be flexible with changing daily priorities in a fast-paced environment
