Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanic to join our team at our Braddock, PA location. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment throughout the facility. As a Mechanic, you will ensure the smooth operation of critical machinery, minimize downtime, and contribute to the overall safety and efficiency of our plant operations.
Schedule: 6am - 6pm
Pay: $32-$40 based on experience
Key Responsibilities:
•Perform regular inspections, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on plant machinery, equipment, and mechanical systems.
•Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on production equipment, conveyors, hydraulic systems, pumps, and other mechanical machinery.
•Assist in the installation and assembly of new mechanical systems and machinery.
•Conduct routine lubrication, adjustments, and alignment of equipment to ensure optimal performance.
•Monitor machine performance, identify potential mechanical failures, and implement corrective actions.
•Fabricate, weld, and modify components as necessary to ensure continuous plant operations.
•Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals to assist in repairs and troubleshooting.
•Collaborate with the maintenance team and production staff to ensure safe and efficient operations.
•Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and equipment status.
•Follow all safety regulations and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or GED required; technical certification in mechanical systems or a related field is a plus.
•Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably in a steel mill or heavy industrial environment.
•Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills, with experience working on pumps, compressors, hydraulic systems, and industrial machinery.
•Proficient in welding, fabrication, and use of various hand and power tools.
•Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
•Knowledge of industrial safety standards and best practices.
•Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting and working in confined or elevated spaces.
•Ability to work on-call or overtime as needed.
Physical Requirements:
•Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
•Ability to work in a hot, noisy, and hazardous industrial environment.
•Climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
•Working in confined spaces or at heights may be required.
