Position Overview:
The Mechanic Assistant will work directly under the Lead Fleet Mechanic to support the repair, maintenance, and safe operation of company vehicles and equipment. This position is responsible for performing basic maintenance tasks, assisting with larger repairs, transporting parts, and helping keep the fleet running efficiently. The ideal candidate has hands-on mechanical experience, a strong work ethic, and the ability to follow direction in a fast-paced environment.
- Assist Lead Fleet Mechanic with routine maintenance, including:
- Oil changes
- Tire changes and repairs
- Light and bulb replacements
- Minor accessory and component repairs
- Perform general repair and maintenance work on forklifts, skid steers, and various other equipment as assigned.
- Pick up and deliver parts, supplies, and materials as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Inspect equipment and report any defects or concerns immediately.
- Assist with documenting completed repairs, parts used, and equipment status updates.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Support the mechanic team with any additional tasks needed to keep the fleet operational.
- Hands-on mechanical experience required (automotive, diesel, or equipment maintenance preferred).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor/yard conditions.- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus.
