Job Overview
The Inventory & Material Handler is responsible for accurately receiving, logging, and organizing inventory. Duties include inspecting shipments, updating stock levels in inventory system, labeling products, performing cycle counts, reconciling discrepancies, and maintaining orderly storage areas. This role ensures inventory records are accurate and up to date to support smooth operations.
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and damage.
- Log inventory data into management system.
- Label and tag inventory with barcodes or RFID tags.
- Perform regular cycle counts and full inventory audits.
- Update stock levels in real-time to reflect items received, moved, or shipped.
- Reconcile discrepancies between physical counts and inventory records.
- Monitor inventory for restocking needs and report low stock levels.
- Organize storage areas to ensure easy identification and retrieval of items.
- Upload trucks using pallet jacks, forklifts, or by hand.
- Inspect incoming goods for damage or missing items during unloading.
- Sort and stage incoming materials for proper storage or processing.
- Load outgoing shipments, record and track with barcodes or RFID tags.
- Follow safety protocols while operating equipment and handling materials.
- Collaborate with drivers and shipping personnel to verify loads.
- Document shipments with bills of lading or delivery receipts.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1-2 years of experience in a warehouse, inventory control, or material handling role preferred.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or basic computer skills is required.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as a forklift or pallet jack.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in counting, labeling, and tracking inventory.
- Ability to read and interpret packing slips, bills of lading, and inventory documents.
- Basic math skills for counting and verifying quantities.
- Physical stamina to lift/move up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
- Team player with good communication skills and a proactive attitude.
- Commitment to safety procedures and guidelines.
- Comfortable working in warehouse conditions, including varying temperatures.
