The Material Handler is responsible for safely and efficiently moving, storing, and delivering raw materials, finished goods, and supplies within the manufacturing facility. This role supports production operations by ensuring materials are available when needed and inventory is properly managed.
- Load, unload, and transport metal materials using forklifts, cranes, or other material handling equipment.
- Stage raw materials for production and move finished products to designated storage areas.
- Verify material quantities and quality against work orders and shipping documents.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and report discrepancies.
- Operate material handling equipment in compliance with safety standards.
- Assist with packaging, labeling, and preparing shipments.
- Keep work areas clean and organized to ensure a safe environment.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including PPE requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in material handling or warehouse operations preferred.
- Ability to operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment (certification may be required).
- Basic math and record-keeping skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Lifting: Regularly lift and move materials up to 50 lbs; occasionally up to 75 lbs with assistance.
- Standing/Walking: Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the shift.
- Bending/Twisting: Frequent bending, stooping, and twisting to handle materials.
- Reaching: Ability to reach overhead and at ground level.
- Manual Dexterity: Use of hands and arms to operate tools and equipment.
- Environmental Conditions: Exposure to noise, heat, dust, and metal particles; must wear appropriate PPE.
