Material Handler Operator

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Material Handler to join our team. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operations of a hydraulic grapple or magnetic crane to load and unload containers and trailers and lift and move scrap metal of varying sizes and weights around the work area.

This position will work remotely outside in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

- Basic sorting of scrap, as well as metal and debris in preparation for processing.

- Provide a safe environment for all employees, customers, and visitors

- Operate a hydraulic grapple or magnetic crane to lift, sort, load or unload scrap metal and debris in preparation for processing

- Perform daily inspections on equipment reporting any defects or needed repairs

- Determine load weights and verify against lifting capacities to prevent overloads and dangerous situations.

- Comply with all the applicable federal, state, local, & Mullins Salvage safety, health & environmental rules, regulations, policies, & procedures

- Varies jobs throughout the yard

Qualifications

- High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent work experience

- Previous general labor in the scrap metal or construction industries preferred

- Pervious Hydraulic Crane experienced preferred

- Ability to carry out instructions provided in written or oral form.

- Ability to learn new tasks as assigned required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 44 per week
