This position is responsible for handling and moving products large and small using various material handling equipment from simple hand carts to large multi-ton fork trucks. The position will also prepare the same product for shipment to our suppliers and customers in such a way as to efficiently protect our product to its final destination. This position is responsible for maintaining proper inventory reporting while performing the tasks described above.
- Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
- Places finished products or materials into proper containers.
- Counts, weighs, and records materials transactions in the business system.
- Creates and attaches tags or labels to materials or otherwise marks customer information.
- Opens containers using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools.
- Loads and unloads material onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
- Conveys materials to or from storage or worksites to designated areas using forklift, electric dolly, handcart, or other device.
- Determines safest, most effective and efficient method for packaging various parts and assemblies.
- Participates in On-Call 24/7 rotation.
- Two years of material handling experience and fork truck driving, including loading and unloading of trucks.
- Two years of packaging experience, including building boxes, and crates, and cribbing of material on truck beds.
- Must be able work with little to no supervision.
- Must be able to regulate productivity throughout the shift to pull and package orders on picking list.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external customers when necessary.
