Material Handler

Position Overview:

The Material Handler will play a crucial role in the efficient handling, movement, and storage of steel plates within our facility. This position requires a keen eye for detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work collaboratively with the production team.

Key Responsibilities:

- Receive incoming steel plates and verify them against purchase orders and material certificates.

- Inspect materials for damages, defects, and ensure they meet correct specifications such as grade, thickness, and dimensions.

- Safely maneuver heavy steel plates using overhead cranes, forklifts, and other lifting equipment.

- Stage materials for cutting operations according to production schedules.

- Ensure correct loading and unloading of plates on cutting tables including plasma, oxy-fuel, and laser machines.

- Organize storage areas to allow for efficient retrieval of materials and minimize waste.

- Maintain traceability of materials through accurate labeling and documentation.

- Efficiently remove cut parts and scrap, sorting usable remnants for future use.

- Keep the cutting area clear of obstructions to maintain a smooth workflow.

- Follow all safety procedures for handling heavy plates and operating lifting equipment.

- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, steel-toe boots, and eye and hearing protection.

- Comply with OSHA and company safety policies to ensure a safe working environment.

Qualifications:

- Experience in handling heavy materials and operating lifting equipment.

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Ability to read and interpret purchase orders and material specifications.

- Familiarity with safety protocols and compliance standards in a manufacturing environment.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
