Under the direction of the Director, Subsea and Technical Field Support, is responsible for the design development of various subsea and well control systems for newbuilds, conversions, refurbishments, and upgrades. Provides engineering and design analysis, development of layouts, development of scopes of work and procurement specifications, vendor expediting, and resolution of engineering issues.
Provides support in resolution of technical issues for worldwide operations and the local WCE support teams, which will include both the main subsea equipment and specialized well control equipment. Processes assigned TMOC’s (Technical Management of Change) and alerts and bulletins as well. Assigns TMOC’s and Alerts and Bulletins to team as required.
Represents Transocean on Industry committees.
- Review, evaluate and approve engineering drawings and calculations in compliance with Classification and Regulatory Rules, and ensure adequate standards of safety are incorporated.
- Evaluate existing designs of engineering systems and TMOC’s to determine the operational effectiveness, safety, and relative cost of such systems.
- Participate in Industry standards and forums.
- Organize technical discussions with subcontractors and vendors in order to specify designs or systems necessary for an engineering project.
- Support and assist rigs operations staff, or shipyard teams, with their technical queries and coordinate resolution as required.
- Responsible Responsible for creating a positive relationship with the Client, Subcontractors, Vendors, and the operating divisions of the company. Ensure a high degree of cooperation to achieve the best possible results.
- Support WCE Organization in troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Review OEM product bulletins and alerts for applicability and communicate to rigs.
- Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree
- Preferred Level: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with Professional Engineer (PE) credentials.
- Minimum Required: 8-10 years
- Preferred Level: 12-15 years
- Strong knowledge of drilling industry standards and oilfield equipment.
- Strong technical skills and understanding of engineering drawings, calculations, etc.
- Ability to manage a team of engineers and technical personnel.
- Able to present technical reports/presentations to various levels of the organizations and industry.
- Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screen.
- Must successfully complete pre-employment background check.
