Primary purpose:
Manager level position providing volumetric and financial accounting support to the company’s crude oil pipeline and terminal segment. Position will be responsible for regulatory and GAAP reporting related to the gross margin components of the crude oil pipelines and terminals. Role requires a strong knowledge of the energy industry, crude oil operations and crude oil operating and financial systems.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
•Manage 2 direct reports and work closely on development plans and career growth
•Ensure timely and accurate financial close
•Ensure timely and accurate recording and/or approval of journal entries, on a monthly and as needed basis
•Prepare and/or approve customer billing
•Approve account reconciliations
•Prepare and/or approve all joint tariff wires and working with partners as needed
•Prepare and present monthly forecast
•Prepare and analyze financial results and provide clear explanations into causes of variance and fluctuations in operating results
•Support internal and external audits by providing process and accounting explanations, preparing data requests, developing and maintaining appropriate SOX controls
•Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings in accordance with regulatory guidance. Filings include are not limited to: Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) quarterly and annual Form 6.
•Prepare and/or review various state commission and tax related reports including but not limited to Traffic Unit and Barrel Mile reports
•Develop annual budget related to gross margin and deficiencies and prepare overall budget package
•Develop and implement process and policy improvements and efficiencies
•Develop and maintain effective relationships with various departments necessary to gather and exchange accounting related data
•Interact with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism
•Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully
•Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance
•Will work non-traditional hours as needed
•Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the public
•Other daily, weekly, monthly or special project duties as identified and defined

Minimum requirements :
Education:
•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline
Experience/Specific Knowledge:
•A minimum of five (5) years of experience actively involved in a relevant and related role
•Understanding the accounting and reporting of transactions involving oil and gas for FERC and GAAP
•Must have a fundamental understanding of accounting and financial principles
•Advanced understanding and demonstrated ability with computerized accounting systems, financial modeling, budgets, operating analysis, and management reporting.
•Previous experience with SOX controls and processes
•Intermediate to advanced level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
•Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

Working Conditions:

•Manages a team of 2 direct reports
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
•Seven (7) years of experience actively involved in a relevant and related role
•Familiarity and experience with Synthesis and Oracle software.
•Prior oil and gas industry experience.
Compensation:
•The annual salary range for this position will be $125,000-$155,000/yr.
