Our Collaboration Hub in the Warehouse District of New Orleans, Louisiana, serves as an important location for our global support groups, including investor relations, finance, engineering, marketing, communications, and information technology. Employees in New Orleans mostly follow a hybrid schedule where they collaborate virtually and may be required to attend occasional in-person meetings or training. The Hub is located inside a beautiful historic building and provides office space, meeting rooms, kitchen and dining space, phone booths, and technology tools for virtual and in-person collaboration. Description
Responsible for management and oversight of strategic metallurgical projects. Identify and implement opportunities for improvement in metallurgical performance of processing plants either through continuous improvement, growth projects, or through deployment of leading-edge technology and innovation and its transfer. Participate in sound technical metallurgical processing due diligence exercises on acquisitions, mergers, and partnerships. Promote Industry Best Practices at operating companies across FCX. Continuous improvement of production planning and forecasting.
•Supervises and develops metallurgical staff as well as undertaking coaching and mentoring metallurgical staff at operating sites
•Selects critical mineral processing technology and equipment using sound decision analysis methods that takes into account technical, financial (capital and operating expenditures), operating and maintenance data, whilst agreeing decision methodology and evaluation with key stakeholders
•As part of the mining company owner’s team on growth projects interact with engineering companies and set the following aspects for these projects: the flowsheet (including mass and energy balance), critical equipment and technology selections, process design criteria, process control and automation strategy, metallurgical sampling and accounting plan
•Detailed process design for mineral processing oreflow systems, crushing and screening plants, concentrators, dewatering plants and ship loading facilities
•Contributes to the preparation of technical reports and Approval for Expenditure documents (AFEs) for major projects. Provides data analysis, economic evaluations including review of operational data to determine cause of production shortfalls and recommends solutions
•Perform other duties as requested
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and ten (10) years of experience in mineral processing, including five (5) years of experience in a mineral processing concentrator and three (3) years of experience working on large growth projects involving mining and engineering companies.
•Recognized amongst peers as a Subject Matter Expert in comminution (including crushing and grinding), flotation, liquid-solid separation (including thickening and filtration), as well as further processing techniques including heap leaching, SX/EW, and potential Pyrometallurgy processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
•At least (2) years of experience with project design and/or project management for large capital projects (>$100M USD)
Criteria/Conditions:
•Willingness and ability to travel up to 40 days per year
•Must be able to work at the Grasberg Minesite Milling Complete at an altitude of 3000 m
•Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
What We Offer You
The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $134,000-$187,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance. Additionally, this position is currently eligible for annual long-term incentive consideration. Long-term incentives are contingent upon authorized approval under the terms and conditions of the Company's plan and award agreements. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
