Role Overview
Responsible for managing MRO personnel and development of a value-added supply base for both capital and indirect, (MRO) materials and services that supports the maintenance and upkeep of Oil-Dri’s domestic plants. The position is also responsible for the planning, buying and scheduling for all maintenance work for the Georgia Region. Additionally, it oversees storeroom activities performed, improving work force productivity and work quality by eliminating, in advance, potential delays and obstacles in support of all maintenance activities. This is done through properly managing all planners and storeroom personnel as well as addressing machine down time and organizing manpower to address problem issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and manage local and assigned national contracts for MRO, indirect services, and capital purchases to support corporate and local manufacturing needs.
- Ensure that standardized system-based practices and procedures for MRO personnel are adhered to in assigned plants.
- This includes the training and implementation of these practices and procedures to direct MRO personnel and affected operational personnel in assigned plants.
- Serve as the JDE subject matter expert for capital and MRO related purchasing activities.
- Co-lead sourcing activities include negotiation support, contract support and ongoing category management strategies.
- Monitor and improve upon key speed of service performance indicators (KPI’s) for direct reports – submit monthly consolidated report to Manager in a mutually agreed upon format.
- Effectively manage supplier relationships, including formal business reviews and ongoing continuous improvement initiatives for assigned key suppliers and service providers.
- Deliver cost savings targets for fiscal year and report ongoing savings results to Manager.
- Coordinates/Manages the activities of Planners, Buyers and the Storeroom to fully support all planned and unplanned maintenance activities for the Georgia region.
- Plan and perform work according to established safety rules and practices while striving for ZERO Accidents.
- Identify “near misses’ as they occur providing corrective action.
- Recognize and coordinate management work orders that require engineering design.
- Coordinates and manages parts to be maintained in stock.
- Assists maintenance and operation management in periodically analyzing costs and, where necessary, recommends corrective action needed to reduce maintenance costs.
- Works in partnership with the Maintenance Manager of designated Supervisor to ensure operational success.
- Performs other tasks and special assignments as requested by the maintenance manager.
- Manage and hold accountable all Planners, Buyers and Storeroom personnel.
- Work hand in glove with other functional leaders as needed, especially the Maintenance Manager.

- Knowledge of and experience with safety methods and technology.
- Mechanical/Electrical maintenance background (10 plus years’ experience) or/and College/Technical degree.
- Must pass all job-related assessments.
- Have adequate craft knowledge to estimate labor hours and materials and to visualize the job to be performed.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Strong administrative and mathematical skills with willingness to handle paperwork.
- Ability to understand what constitutes good instructions.
- Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings.
- Sketching ability.
- Understanding of the proper use of work orders, priorities, scheduling, etc.
- Ability to keep multiple jobs in controlled motion simultaneously.
- Ability to bring about order from chaos.
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written.

- Experienced user of windows-based computing and software.
