About This Job

Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state.

Trans Mountain also operates a state-of-the-art loading facility, Westridge Marine Terminal, with three berths providing tidewater access to global markets.

As the Manager, Emergency Management with Trans Mountain, you will have the opportunity to work with an innovative and creative group of industry experts supporting the operation of the Trans Mountain Pipeline System.

Reporting to the Director, Emergency Management, this position provides expertise in the implementation and maintenance of Trans Mountain emergency management and fire protection programs, in accordance with government regulations and Trans Mountain policies. The Trans Mountain program includes all elements included in the Integrated Safety & Loss Management System (ISLMS), including documentation necessary to maintain a high level of preparedness to implement an effective response to any pipeline or facility incident.

This role will be located at our Calgary Head office and in an office-based position.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of Emergency Management-related documentation and plans including those related to ISLMS.

- Responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the Business Continuity Program.

- Manage the continual improvement, and implementation of the Crisis Management Plan, and serve as a key responder for corporate-level incidents.

- Engage with project leads and other project personnel as required during project application, construction, and commissioning phases ensuring continued regulatory compliance for the emergency response plans and procedures.

- Implement and oversee the operational Emergency Management Budget related to program governance, crisis planning, and business continuity planning.

- Respond to emergencies and be able to fill various incident command system positions.


Qualifications And Professional Experience

- Degree in Emergency Management, Safety, Humanities, Social Sciences, Science or related discipline.

- Minimum of 10 years of work experience in related field.

- Preferred designations/certification/licenses:

- H2S Alive, First Aid/CPR, WHIMIS, TDG, ICS 100-400, HAZWOPER


- Specific knowledge and experience:

- Emergency management experience preferably in the Oil & Gas industry with increasing responsibilities and project complexity.

- A history of work experience that would indicate a high level of communication activities

- Experience in the interpretation of technical documents.

- Experience in the development and continual improvement of Business Continuity Programs

- Proven leadership and people management skills, with a strong ability to mentor, guide, and collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams.

- Skilled in navigating and facilitating difficult conversations with professionalism and empathy and tact.

- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities, with a detail-oriented approach to solving complex problems and organizational challenges.

- Demonstrated ability to think both strategically and tactically in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

- Exceptional organizational, planning, facilitation, and coordination skills.

- Highly effective time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and perform under pressure in multi-tasking environments.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; facilitation, and stakeholder engagement abilities.

- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships and foster trust.

- Adaptable and resilient, with a proactive approach to managing change and evolving project requirements.

- Valid driver’s license required.


Other Requirements And Information

- Will need to provide support outside of regular business hours and/or on the weekend.

- Occasional travel to various site locations may be required.
