Manager, Distribution Operations - Fraser Valley Office - FTT

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Resident
The Real Time Operations division within T&D System Operations is seeking Manager Distribution Operations (M1) for a
18-month period reporting to the Senior Manager Distribution Operations, T&D System Operations, the successful
Candidate will:
- Provide engaging shift employees people leadership, operational expertise, and technical insight in support of the 24/7
- Demonstrate the ability to make timely and effective decisions and will be skilled at setting priorities and delegating as
- Focus on building and sustaining an engaged and effective workforce to deliver on the mandate of Real Time Operations.

Some of the key duties include, but are not limited to:
- Direct, manage and supervise the control room activities by providing leadership and support for the power system
- Manage the implementation of safety programs and practices in real time operations.
- Ensure training and personal development needs of direct reports are met to achieve safety objectives and other BC
- Collect initial information and data to support safety and reliability incidents and accidents. Conduct safety and reliability
- Responsible for effectiveness of scheduled shift operations. Make daily plans for work activities and ensure stable and
- Coordinate response to urgent power system disturbance and prepare restoration plans for unplanned/emergency
outages. Prepare and analyze system disturbances to identify causes of problems and potential solutions to improve
system reliability and safety. Engage stakeholders for power system restoration and other real time operations activities.
- Review and approve various documentations for shift operations. Provide input to operations policy, practices and

- Manage department budgets and provides support to the training program.
- Perform duties, tasks and responsibilities assigned by Senior Manager, Distribution Operations.
- A recognized Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering degree with seven (7) years of experience in an operations
environment. Consideration will be given to lesser qualified candidates with at least ten (10) experience in the operations,
maintenance or management of Utility Distribution power systems.
- Experience managing and supervising technical staff preferably in a unionized environment.
- Technical knowledge of Integrated electrical systems, operation of transmission, sub-transmission and distribution
- Critical thinking and decision-making skills to make operational decisions and guiding operating personnel under
- Enthusiastic, self-directed and a quick learner. Interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with various
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on communication, change management, mentoring, and engagement.
- Leadership experience to foster teamwork. Ability to quickly assess issues and determine appropriate courses of action.

- This is a Full-Time Temporary (FTT) opportunity for approximately 18 months.
Resident = Work primarily from office/on work sites, minimum 4 days per week
