Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support global operations in finance, human resources, information technology, planning and more from the main office, satellite offices or online. As a Hybrid employee, you’ll engage in virtual collaboration as well as attend in-person meetings at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix or at one of our site locations. The Collaboration Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. Description

The Manager Autonomous Mining is responsible for the development and execution of the Freeport-McMoRan autonomous mining strategy. This strategy is to be integrated with parallel efforts, as to compliment them (Decarbonization, Manpower Sourcing, etc).

- Develop and clearly articulate the business case for autonomous solutions in business terms (cost ramp down, labor offset, operational efficiencies, etc.)

- Prepare trade off comparisons between technologies and flowsheets, regularly updating and challenging key assumptions

- Oversee the proof of concept and commercial deployment of autonomous technologies across FCX

- Establish and deploy an FCX autonomous operating model that ensures full potential of autonomous solutions are attained and sustained

- Provide executive level progress updates and recommendations that guide strategic investments

- Remain current and communicate industry progress, both in development and deployment of technologies

- Partner with OEM and technology providers to improve technology capability and to drive cost down

- Perform other duties as requested

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related engineering discipline and fifteen (15) years of experience in related engineering field OR

- Master’s degree in engineering or related engineering discipline and thirteen (13) years of experience in related engineering field

- Experience leading autonomous deployments

- Operations experience in open pit hard rock mining

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with multiple OEM technologies

Criteria/Conditions:

- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance.  Additionally, this position is currently eligible for annual long-term incentive consideration.  Long-term incentives are contingent upon authorized approval under the terms and conditions of the Company's plan and award agreements.  More details will be shared during the hiring process.
